What an amazing day. It started out with an awesome ferry ride to the island. From there we could do whatever we wanted, and we had until 4pm to do it! We chose to climb up to the secret garden in the morning. An amazing climb, the end was disappointing, but the journey was awesome. We then went on the glass bottom boat tour, which was a bit average. We had preordered our picnic lunch, and so glad we did, as we got to sit under the canopy of trees to eat, rather than in the noisy bar. Also, the lunch was delicious and so fresh. Our afternoon took us on another adventure to Nudey beach. We chose not to snorkel, but swam in the clear, warm waters and saw fish, a couple of baby sharks and other wildlife on this visit. The dry coral is a killer on your feet, but the ocean was worth it. A long climb back to civilisation, and a reward of an ice cold beer at Foxys bar, before catching the ferry back. The only negative was that there was very little shade, and it was a very hot day. Would definitely recommend this to anyone, but take lots of sunscreen, water, reef shoes and a big hat!

Awesome time snorkelling! We were lucky enough to not only see one turtle, but 2! Gorgeous fish, and great to see the coral coming back to life! Absolutely lovely day and great staff on the boat.. Would definitely come back again.

What a fabulous day out on Fitzroy island. Booked online through oz adventures and got snorkeling gear as a bonus. The boat ride out was great and very relaxing, once on island you can do whatever you want. We first did the hike up to light house then the summit as it was a hot day and wanted to get in before it got to hot. Make sure you have plenty of water and good shoes, 5 km return walk . Then it was time for snorkeling which was fantastic, plenty of coral , fish and we came across a large turtle. It is a must to when in cairns

After reading many negative reviews on TripAdvisor before going to Cairns, I decided not to book this trip. While in Cairns we had a spare day and the weather on that day was beautiful. So my wife and I went down to the booking desk at the terminal on the morning. We were fortunate enough to get on the 9am boat. However, the 4pm return was fully booked so we had to depart the island at 2pm. The island comprises of coral beaches so it can be rough on the feet. I hired snorkelling equipment from the boat which cost an extra $25. I snorkelled at Nudey Beach and the beach on the other side of the resort. The water visibility wasn’t great. But there were plenty of fish. We had lunch at Foxy’s Bar. We had the seafood basket which was delicious. Unfortunately the queue for ordering was long and it took 20 minutes to order. It then took another 30 minutes for the food. By the time we finished our lunch it was almost 2pm. So we had to depart the Island. If we had the time there was much more we could have done and seen on the Island. For anyone thinking of going to the Island, I would recommend a full day (i.e. 9am departure from Cairns and 4pm departure from Fitzroy Island). The Island is nice and has a lot to offer and is well worth the trip over.

First stop on the island was snorkelling near Bird Rock. Great conditions and saw turtles, bright coral and a lot of fish. After lunch at the bar we went to the turtle rehabilitation centre and then walked back to Nudie Beach. It isn’t far to the beach, but was a bit of a rough walk. After an iceblock from the general store we headed back to the boat for the trip home. I highly recommend this day out.

This is the third time we have gone to Fitzroy Island on day trips. If your fit and healthy there are some great hikes to do. A must is the walk to Nudey Beach. Go swimming, snorkeling, relaxing at Foxy’s Bar for eats and drinks. Pick a day with warm, sunny weather for the best experience. The trip by the Fitzroy Flyer seems to be the best value.

Terrible experience, terrible company, terrible customer service. I’m seriously so pissed off. Don’t waste your money, there are other companies in Cairns

Great full day, the snorkel safari was excellent we are a couple in our 50’s average fitness and it was very doable, being in the water for 45 minutes was not as hard as it sounded. Our guide was great, we saw clown fish which I was excited about, great commentary and she made sure you saw the best of it, you were comfortable and gear was working. I wouldn’t bother with the glass bottom boat and do the snorkel safari if you are up to it. If you are snorkelling of the beach stick to ends of the bays were the coral is. Did the sort walk to Nudey beach, about 15 minutes each way, fine if you are steady on your feet, steep & uneven in places. Easy to fill in the day if you are keen to do walking

Booked a full day trip in advance only to be told the boat was full and my trip departure went from 8am to 11am. Aaron who was operating the check in wasn’t much help at all and the staff weren’t helpful in changing my booking to another day. After repeated requests, eventually got onto a 10am departure. It was admitted they made the mistake after I showed proof it was a full day adventure. The boat and staff going to the Island were great but on the 5pm way back, the captain made some interesting remarks against a passenger and during the trip he had his feet up on the boat dashboard. Staff were not inviting. Disappointed and would not recommend. Travelled July 23 2021.
